Allen David Brandt

Allen David Brandt was born on March 12, 1982 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He grew up in Sturgis, Michigan with his parents and three siblings, and attended Sturgis Public School from Kindergarten through High School. He was very close to his siblings, Andrew, Aaron, and Aleesha. From an early age, encouraged by his father and grandpa, Allen developed a passion for hunting and fishing. During his school years, Allen enjoyed participating in a wide range of activities including church programs, Bible schools, musicals, and choirs. While his good musical ear first led him to play the violin, he eventually switched to singing, which became a passion that he maintained his whole life. He also discovered a keen interest in aviation which, along with his interest in the outdoors, led him to attend college at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks where he planned to study Aviation. While Allen did obtain his pilot’s license between his freshman and sophomore year, his academic focus took a turn and he began to consider careers other than Aviation. Allen graduated UAF in 2004 summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication with a Minor in Business. Allen was accepted into the Alaska Police Corps in the Fall of 2004 and was then hired with Fairbanks Police Department in 2005. During the 11 years that Allen served and protected the citizens of Fairbanks, he received many letters of commendation and honors due to his exceptional investigatory skills and superior work ethic. Allen spent 7 years of his career at FPD as a dedicated and proficient traffic officer. Allen loved to challenge himself as a law enforcement officer. He was promoted to Sergeant in May of 2015.

Allen married the love of his life, Natasha, on July 9th 2005. As Allen and Natasha raised their family and built their home, they took full advantage of what Alaska has to offer. Whether he was sheep hunting or bear hunting with a rifle or just a bow, Allen’s enthusiasm for hunting never waned and he worked to instill that interest in his children. Although Allen had many friends, Natasha and the kids were his life and he made that evident by the constant support and love he showed to them.

Allen’s Christian faith was not just a piece of him, but rather an ever‐present quality which was evident in all of his roles in life. His love for the Lord helped him excel as a husband, father, son, brother, officer, and friend. That love also motivated Allen to share his faith with all he met. Allen is survived by his wife, Natasha; children Fritz, Kate, Claire, and Belle; parents Jonita and Gary Brandt; siblings Andrew, Aaron, and Aleesha; and many extended family members and friends.

"As a Lieutenant with FPD, I had the privilege of recruiting Allen as one of the first Alaskans to participate in the Federal Police Corps Program. A recent college graduate, Allen committed to service with FPD in exchange for repayment of past tuition expenses. Allen did the program proud, graduating from a combined police academy in Washington State, and served FPD with distinction, rising to the rank of Sergeant. Rest In Peace, Sgt. Brandt!" - Dan Hoffman, Retired FPD Police Chief

"Sgt. Brandt was someone that touched the hearts of everyone he encountered. He made an immediate impression as a person who genuinely cared. His family meant the world to him, and his faith was strong. Always taking time to teach others, to share a hunting story or educate you in his faith, always without condescension. This world was forever changed the day that Allen Brandt lost his life. I think of you every day, you led an incredibly impactful life! We are all better to have known you, if even for a second. Faithful unto death; Revelation 2:10"  - Jessie Lenahan, Former FECC Dispatcher
