Sales Tax Setup

 

Opening An Account

In order to establish a sales tax account with the City you must complete the following steps:

  1. ​Acquire a State of Alaska Business License - CLICK HERE 
     
  2. Acquire a City of Fairbanks Business License - CLICK HERE
     
  3. Acquire a City of Fairbanks Certificate of Registration - 

                      Note: A customized filing form will be provided with the Certificate of Registration.

                      If you need a replacement filing form, please email citytaxfiling@fairbanks.us.

 

Maintaining Your Account

While you possess a valid Certificate of Registration you must file a sales tax return each month with the City Clerk's Office, even if there were zero taxable sales for the period.

A failure to meet the filing requirements will result in a penalty being applied to your account.

 

Closing Your Account

To close your sales tax account, please return your Certificate of Registration to the City Clerk's Office or request a closure form from citytaxfiling@fairbanks.us.
