The Fairbanks Diversity Council (FDC) was created on March 10, 2014 when the Fairbanks City Council adopted  Ordinance No. 5939.  The FDC is composed of 11 volunteer citizens of the City of Fairbanks and the Fairbanks North Star Borough, the City Mayor, a City Council Member, and the City Human Resources director.  More information including the current roster of the FDC can be viewed by visiting www.fairbanksalaska.us/bc and clicking on "Fairbanks Diversity Council".  The FDC serves to advise the City Council and the Borough Assembly and to address concerns in the areas of employment, public accommodations, police policies, transportation, housing, public awareness and sensitivity, and other subjects deemed appropriate by the mayors or governing bodies.

The FDC meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 800 Cushman Street, Fairbanks.  These meetings are open to the general public, and citizens are given an opportunity to address the FDC at each meeting.  The FDC invites all members of the community to participate in regular meetings

FDC meetings are being held over Zoom and in person.  If you wish to attend via Zoom, please see the meeting information below.  When the "Citizens' Comments" agenda item comes up, attendees may "raise their hand" and be permitted to provide three minutes of comments to the FDC.  Otherwise, attendees will be muted in listen/observe-only mode.
