FPD Vehicle Design Update

contest winner

And the winner is…. Ryker Snow!

In April, Fairbanks Police Department asked for help from local artists to create their own design to put on some of the new police vehicles. FPD was looking for a new look that reflected the beauty of Alaska and wanted to give the community an opportunity to participate in the process. There were over 20 designs submitted from artists of varying ages. The officers selected the design shown in the images below, which was created by 20-year-old Ryker Snow.

Ryker had the following to say about participating: “I saw the contest on the Fairbanks website and I thought that it’s not every day you get to have your own design on a police car. I like art, and I thought it was a great way to support our community and support the Fairbanks Police Department. I was really surprised to win and I can’t wait to see it on the vehicles!”

Ryker has had no formal training in digital design, but has always loved creating different types of art. He’s enjoyed it so much that he plans to go to college this Fall to study digital art.

There are two vehicles that are ready to get the wrap of the design put on, and Chief Dupee hopes they will be finished and on the streets of Fairbanks by the end of June.
