The City’s new Risk Manager, Tom Borce, started last week. Tom was born and raised in San Diego, California. He moved to Fairbanks in 1983, where he met his wife, Kari. Tom and Kari raised two children in Fairbanks. Their son, Haakon, is married and has started a family of his own. Their daughter, Tessa, was recently married and lives in Kenai.
Tom enjoys doing all things Alaskan – traveling the state, hunting, and fishing (most recently dip netting in the Kenai river) camping, berry picking, and cross country skiing. At home, Kari likes to quilt and work in her garden. Tom likes to play the guitar.
Tom has a health, safety, and environment background, including years of working in the construction industry, instructing HSE courses and field risk management on the North Slope.
Tom is excited to be part of the Mayor’s team and to be able to continue working and enhancing the safety culture that the City of Fairbanks has in place.
