**12/07/17 Update

Today, snow removal operations are in Walden Estates.

Additional temporary workers are starting on Monday, December 11th to accelerate snow removal throughout the city and in neighborhoods.  These new hires are possible with funds included in a budget amendment to be approved by the City Council on Monday, December 11th.  We appreciate the patience of residents and businesses as the City Public Works Department works to address public safety needs during challenging financial constraints.

Here is the estimated snow removal schedule for day shift in neighborhoods the week of December 11-14.  Night shifts will remove from major roads and sidewalks.

**11/21/17 9:30am Update- The schedule for the next few days is:

Tuesday, November 21 – Plow Main Roads

Wednesday, November 22-Plow Neighborhoods: Johnston, Brandt, and Graehl.

Below is the tentative schedule to complete first round of snow operations throughout the City. This is subject change due to new snowfall, temperatures, and availability of staff and equipment.

Next Week: November 26-29. Night Shift

Switch to night crew starting Sunday night through Wednesday night

Removing snow from Cushman, Barnette, Old Steese, Helmrick Commercial Area, Lacey, City parking lots, and Downtown Core Wednesday night.

December 4-7 Back to Day Shift

Plow and remove snow in these three congested neighborhoods (due to so much on-street parking in these neighborhoods, it is best to plow and remove at the same time, the trade-off is a longer wait for snow operations in those neighborhoods)

These neighborhoods will have signage in advance informing residents to remove vehicles parked on streets on those days.

Arctic Park (Monday, Dec. 4th), Slaterville (Tuesday, Dec.5th), Island Homes (Wednesday, Dec. 6th)

Beginning in January, additional temporary staff will be hired as needed to plow and remove snow more quickly.  Through Fiscal Year 2017, there is funding for only one 7 person snow crew.  We are being creative with our scheduling and allocation of resources.

Snow Plowing Schedule (2017-2018)

The City of Fairbanks Public Works Department will be addressing the clearing of snow from the roadways within the City limits on a rotating schedule as noted below.  This is an approximate 3-week turn around.  If there is significant additional snowfall before the rotation ends, we will address the *emergency areas and main thoroughfares immediately and then return to the residential rotation where we left off.  The night shift will address the Downtown Core Area.

Below is the projected rotating snow removal schedule for RESIDENTIAL areas (day shift):
