11/12/19 Snow Removal Update

plow

We are happy to say that after the recent snowfall we were able to hire 8 temporary operators to add to our 7 permanent operators and run full dayshift operations Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Our crews worked diligently to clear major city roadways and the roads on the emergency plow list.  Roundabouts in the Bentley commercial district were cleared and crews worked to open up more sidewalks, bridges, and ADA ramps throughout the City.

We now have the required additional 15 temporary operators to begin a night shift beginning Tuesday (11/12/19) night. The night crew will be begin removing berms on the major roads to open up driving lanes.

Beginning the night of Monday, November 25, the night crew will spend several nights working the downtown core area which will prepare it for all the shopping that will surely take place after Thanksgiving! As a reminder, downtown businesses should move their sidewalk snow curbside before 9pm Monday night (11/25/19).

Thank you to all you residents that are being considerate drivers in all this snow and patiently working with us while we work to get the snow out of your way. Living in Fairbanks is definitely an adventure at times!
