Public Safety Commission Meeting
The Public Safety Commission met this past Tuesday April 12th.
During this meeting, Mayor Eberhart introduced his new Executive Assistant/ Communications Director, Tammy Misrasi. Tammy is looking forward to working with all of the departments and community members in assisting them with their communication needs.
Departmental reports were made by the Fairbanks Emergency Communications Center, Fairbanks Fire Department, Fairbanks Police Department and the Public Works Department.
The Police Department presented information about their new Chaplain Program. Chief Aragon also spoke about vacancies in the Police Department. Chief Aragon discussed plans for recruiting Officers and lateral transfers, including the newly approved bonus program.
The Fire Department discussed their new “Knox” system. This system allows Firefighters to have increased accessibility to homes and businesses. Portable radios funded by a Homeland Security grant, were also discussed. In addition, the new ambulance specifications have been approved and production will begin very soon, although delivery has not been set.
Fairbanks Emergency Communications Center shared a spreadsheet that outlined the volume and types of calls for the City of Fairbanks.
The next meeting will be hosted by the Fairbanks Fire Department on July 12th
