Press Release: New Chief of Staff Starts Work

IMG_0945James “Jim” Williams began employment yesterday, February 3, 2014, as the Chief of Staff for the City of Fairbanks.

Mayor Eberhart stated, “Jim is an articulate, thoughtful leader. He is intelligent, experienced and diplomatic. He relates extremely well with all people. With his experience and knowledge of military issues, human resources, strategic planning, business and information technology, he will be a tremendous asset to City government. He will help us in working better and more efficiently for our community.”

Jim has extensive experience and training in strategic planning, executive leadership, and information technology and was previously employed as the IT Director and Chief Information Officer at Tanana Chiefs Conference. Jim retired from the United States Air Force in 2007 after more than 20 years of active duty service; his last military assignment was with the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Fort Wainwright.

“I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work serving Fairbanks,” Jim stated.
