New Chief of Staff Appointed

CHIEF OF STAFF APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

FAIRBANKS, Alaska

Fairbanks City Mayor John Eberhart started the new year by appointing Jeff Jacobson as his new Chief of Staff as of January 4, 2016.  No stranger to municipal service, Mr. Jacobson was the Mayor of the City of North Pole for nearly eight years and served another eight years on the North Pole City Council. He recently served as the Borough Chief of Staff for the last six years with Mayor Luke Hopkins.

Mr. Jacobson worked as a teacher for the Fairbanks North Star Borough for 27 years. His teaching career was distinguished by being honored as the 1988 District Teacher of the Year and the 1989 Alaska State Teacher of the Year Alternate.

After graduating from Lathrop High School, Jeff earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from UAF, his Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instructional Science from BYU and his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from UAA.

Mr. Jacobson has extensive leadership and management experience having served as the Fairbanks 2014 Arctic Winter Games Host Society President, the North Pole Chamber of Commerce President, Alaska International Senior Games Board President, North Pole Area Housing Association Board President as well as service with the Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts, and the North Pole Rotary and Lions.
