FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – COVID-19 Testing Location
DATE: October 21, 2020MEDIA CONTACTS:

  • COF - Teal Soden, Communications Director, 907-459-6793, tsoden@fairbanks.us
  • Public Health - Elizabeth Burton, Regional Nurse Manager, 907-451-1673

A new COVID-19 drive-through testing location will open on October 27th outside of the parking lot of the City of Fairbanks (COF) Public Works facility at 2121 Peger Road. City administration has been collaborating with the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services Division of Public Health to provide a new location for free COVID-19 testing for our community.

Public Health had a drive-up testing site set up at the Carlson Center parking lot through the summer, but with winter weather now in Fairbanks, it was necessary to find a new location. The COF Public Works department modified an ATCO unit so that it would have everything required for nurses to continue to provide free drive-through testing, even during adverse weather conditions.

The new location will be open on Tuesday and Thursday of each week from 11am-3pm. Those wishing to receive a free test should call 907-452-1776 to register.

The City is prepared to keep the site running for many months and will continue to work with the Division of Public Health to assist them in any way possible.
