The Application Process

January 2 – April 3 the City of Fairbanks Human Resources Department will be accepting applications for Recruit Firefighter positions with the Fairbanks Fire Department. This application is open to all interested persons. To apply for this position, go to https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/fairbanks

Qualified applicants will receive notification they are eligible to continue in the process no later than April 10.

The Written Exam

The next step in the process is a written exam, to be held on April 25 at the Fairbanks Regional Fire Training Center, located at 1710 30th Avenue. Registration starts at 8 AM, and the exam will begin at 9 AM. Please be sure to bring a picture ID with you. You will also have the option to take the written exam online. This option requires that you notify the department by April 6 to request an online exam. Contact Fire Department for information on this option (fire@fairbanks.us).

CPAT Course Equipment Orientation

May 16 will be the first of two offerings of the Fairbanks Fire Department CPAT Course Equipment Orientation. The second is being offered on May 17. Both will be held at the University Fire Department Station 12 (see page 2 of the document below). This orientation is to familiarize you with the equipment used during the physical abilities testing. Participation in these sessions is strongly recommended, but may be waived by the applicant.
