SUBJECT: Structure Fire – 530 Front Street

For Immediate Release - Fairbanks, AK:

On August 6th, 2019, at approximately 8:00pm, the Fairbanks Emergency Communication Center received several 911 calls regarding a structure fire at 530 Front Street, including calls from a Golden Valley Electric Association crew that was in the area. Fairbanks Fire Department personnel was dispatched from Fire Station One and Fire Station Three.  Mutual aid was dispatched from Fort Wainwright Fire Department and University Fire Department, and Fairbanks Police Department assisted with managing traffic around the scene of the fire.

Upon arrival, FFD personnel reported that the fire was on the third floor of a three-story residence. Fire crews began immediately fighting the fire and it was contained within 15 minutes of arrival. However, due to the unique layout of the structure, it took two and a half hours to completely extinguish the fire. 

No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross responded to assist the occupants of the structure.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and anyone with information about this incident should contact the Fairbanks Deputy Fire Marshal’s Office at 907-450-6614.
