03/02/2022 - City Receives Recognition for Financial Reporting
We’re happy to announce that the City of Fairbanks has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for our annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2020. The honor was given by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States after the report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate our financial story.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
We would like to give a special thank-you to the dedicated staff in our finance department! Those of us that see them on a daily basis know how hard-working they are, and we’re happy for them to see formal recognition by receiving an award such as this. Great job, Margarita and staff!
