City Says Goodbye to Longtime Dispatch Manager

Stephanie Johnson

Dispatch Manager Stephanie Johnson said goodbye last month after 23 years of service to the City of Fairbanks! Stephanie started off as a Dispatcher with the Police Department in 1995 and has been the Dispatch Manager for the Fairbanks Emergency Communication Center (FECC) since it became an independent City department.

Under Stephanie’s direction, the Dispatch Center expanded to dispatching for 20 agencies (police, fire, and EMS) in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Denali Borough, and Delta. Her extensive knowledge in technology and interagency cooperation helped develop FECC into a state of the art dispatch center which has contributed immensely to Public Safety in the Fairbanks area and beyond.

Commitment to public safety runs in Stephanie’s family. Stephanie’s mother was a dispatcher, and Stephanie was able to work alongside her husband and her brother for many years as they are both in Law Enforcement.

We will miss Stephanie greatly and are so appreciative of all her contributions to the City of Fairbanks and to the profession of Dispatching!
