9/8/22 Tree Down on a Powerline?

***Wind Advisory Reminder***

With the wind advisory from the National Weather Service in effect Thursday morning into Friday, we’d like to remind everyone that if a tree is down on a powerline and there is no active public safety threat, such as a fire, calls should be made directly to Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) at 907-452-1151 so as to keep 911 lines open for active emergencies.

Dispatchers at Fairbanks Emergency Communication Center field calls for 20 agencies and receive over 3000 calls a month. It's very important not to overburden the call center with calls that should be directed elsewhere.

Residents should never attempt to remove trees from powerlines as trees that are in contact with an electric line may be live and can cause serious harm or death.

Thank you for your cooperation. Stay safe everyone!
