9/20/2022 FECC Dispatcher Earns Stork Pin!

While dispatchers have the opportunity to help people during emergencies every day, it’s NOT every day that they get to help deliver a baby!

Some dispatchers wait many years for that call, and for FECC dispatcher Elena Condon, that call came this weekend. Elena received a call from a nervous soon-to-be grandma whose daughter was in labor. While calmly talking the caller through the steps of what to do, a healthy baby girl was born. The call didn’t stop there! Elena then gave the caller post-birth instructions on how to care for the new baby and mom until paramedics arrived.

This is undoubtedly a call that Elena will always remember as she is now a very important part of someone’s birth story.

In keeping with FECC tradition, Elena was presented with her stork pin, which has for many years been given to dispatchers the first time they assist a delivery.
