FECC Dispatch Center

Welcome to the Fairbanks Emergency Communications Center (FECC) webpage! Here you will find information about our department, educational information about 911, and you can also say “thank you” to a dispatcher. If you are unable to find the information you need on this site, please contact us directly at 907-459-6800 or email us at dispatch@fairbanks.us

FECC is located at 911 Cushman Street on the 2nd floor of the Fairbanks Police Department. We are staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year by a team of dispatchers working various shift combinations. The dispatch center currently employs 14 dispatchers,  4 shift supervisors,  1 full and 1 part time call taker, and 1 administrative assistant.  The department is currently led by Dispatch Manager Kristi Merideth.

  • FECC answers over 3000 emergency 911 calls for service every month
  • FECC dispatches for 22 agencies in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Denali Borough, the Delta Community and the Nenana Community. This includes 2 police agencies, 10 fire and EMS agencies, 5 fire only agencies, and 3 EMS only agencies, as well as the borough Hazmat Team

Tips when calling 9-1-1

  • Try to stay calm
  • Answer the dispatchers questions to the best of your ability
  • State the location of the emergency
  • Tell them exactly what happened
  • While you are answering questions, help is already on the way

Remember, our dispatchers are specifically trained to handle emergency requests and can provide self-help instructions to the caller while units are en route.
