CITY SURVEYOR

JOB SUMMARY

 

The position works closely with a team of civil engineers and performs all aspects of land surveying in an urban environment based on the needs of road and utility projects.

Work is performed under limited supervision and requires a Professional Land Surveyor license.

RECRUIT FIRE FIGHTER

JOB SUMMARY

Under close supervision of Company Officers, the Recruit Fire Fighter performs entry-level work in the prevention and suppression of fires. Also serves as medical responders on an ambulance crew.

Assignments as a recruit firefighter on an assigned shift include, but are not limited to: responds to fires and other emergency scenes and renders emergency services as appropriate; participates in classes and drills to maintain proficiency; assists with inspection of buildings as assigned; provides public education through station tours and various other programs; performs equipment checks as required; performs station housekeeping maintenance; and other duties as assigned.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

This position oversees the planning, permitting, and environmental compliance of City road, utility, and facility projects, as well as community development and redevelopment activities.  This position is highly visible with frequent public contact and agency coordination.

RISK MANAGER

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

This position is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and analyzing risks inherent to the operations of the City of Fairbanks.  Incumbent will formulate, implement, administer, and evaluate risk management strategies to efficiently and cost-effectively manage those risks.  This position is responsible for educating, advising, and counseling, staff to reduce or transfer risks.  Incumbent must remain informed of the dynamic changes that occur within the City of Fairbanks and make the best risk mitigation method decisions based on the changes.  Incumbent will participate in committee meetings, risk management educational programs, and other educational opportunities to stay abreast of emerging risk issues affecting City operations.
