Debris removal under Wendell Avenue bridge to take place Thursday
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities will be removing debris from under the Wendell Avenue bridge. This work will take place from 4 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7. During that time, a section of the Chena River bike path that runs under the bridge will be closed. Bike path users may take the detour noted on the map below.
The Wendell Avenue bridge will remain open to drivers during this work, but the sidewalk on the east side of the bridge will be closed. Pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to use the sidewalk on the west side of the bridge.
Boaters in the area may see delays of up to 15 minutes as staff works to remove the log jam. The department asks residents not to use the Graehl Park boat launch when work is taking place.
