The Fairbanks City Council welcomed and held the swearing in ceremony for its newest member, June Rogers. June is a very distinguished businesswoman in the City of Fairbanks. June recently retired with 20 years of dedicated service as the Executive Director of the Fairbanks Arts Association.
Prior to her work in the arts, June was an owner of a mechanical contracting company for 15 years. The arts profited from her strong background in business. She helped establish the “Business and the Arts Committee” with the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce – the first and only such committee in the state and she continues to chair that committee. She was a charter member of the Foraker Operations Board.
June’s strong commitment to advocacy and collaboration has been recognized by the Tanana Valley State Fair – Volunteer Dedication & Service Award – Youth Talent Division, Alaska Art Education Association – Distinguished Service in the Arts, International Academy – Outstanding Support of Languages and Culture in Education and Commitment in Fostering Collaboration, Girl Scouts – Woman of Distinction Award, FCVB – Aurora Award – Consistent & Exceptional Contribution to the Fairbanks Visitors Industry, Interior Mayors Award for the Arts – Outstanding Achievement & Dedication to the Arts, Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation – Fairbanks First – Think Local Award, Explore Fairbanks – Golden Heart Award, Midnight Sun Intertribal Powwow – Appreciation for Support, Festival of Native Arts – Appreciation for Support, and by Governor Bill Walker – Lifetime Achievement Award.
Still active throughout the state of Alaska, June is consulted by arts and non-profit organizations for assistance with programs; she also serves on the Fairbanks Diversity Council. Additionally, June is working with the Interior’s governing agencies on Sister City relationships and with collaborative community projects that bring new vigor to the Interior.
Please congratulate June on her appointment to the Fairbanks City Council.
