2011 Municipal Election & Vote Information
PLEASE NOTE: All forms and information for the upcoming municipal election and vote are listed below in PDF format. If you would like hard copies, please stop by the City Clerk’s Office on the First Floor of City Hall at 800 Cushman Street. In-Person Voting:
Ballots for the October 4, 2011, City of Fairbanks, Fairbanks North Star Borough, and City of North Pole Municipal Elections will be available on September 19, 2011, for those voters who will be unable to vote at their regular polling place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election.
Special Needs Voting:
Voters who cannot go to the polls on election day due to a physical disability can vote through a personal representative or comple an absentee ballot by mail application. Absentee Ballot Applications can be obtained at any Clerk’s Office: Special Needs Voting, or you can obtain the application at the following link and a ballot will be mail to you: Absentee Ballot Application.
If You Have Moved/Voter Registration:
If your address has changed since the last election and you have not informed the State Division of Elections, you will not be listed on the precinct register where you now reside. Initial registration or registration changes must be made at least 30 days prior to an election. You may update your information or initially register at http://www.elections.alaska.gov/ or in person at the State of Alaska Division of Elections Office, 675 7th Avenue, Station H3, or at one of the Clerk’s Offices.
Garbage Billing: Senior Discount Application
You may be eligible to receive a discount on your garbage bill if you are a senior citizen (age 65) years or older, or a person at least 60 years of age who is the widow or widower of a person who was receiving a senior citizen discount at the time of his or her death. To receive the discount, you must apply to the Office of the City Clerk with proof of age. A notarized statement is necessary, so government issued picture identification will be required. The discounted rate will become effective on the first billing quarter following a qualified filing.
To be eligible for Senior Citizen Discount you must:
- Be a person age sixty-five (65) years and older.
- Be the legal owner of the residence and must occupy the residence for which the rate will be applied.
Please note that Ordinance No. 5869, adopted December 12, 2011, states that “A qualified senior citizen need not file such an application for successive years if there is no change to ownership, no change in permanent place of abode, and no change as to the owner of record.”
